He also said they jump on your shoulder and kiss your ear. He said I should look into them but I dont know if you can get them as pets.

Prairie dogs are VERY destructive. I have seen a cute little prairie dog go from "sweet and cuddly" to "tearing up a $2000 set of speakers" in seconds.

Please trust me when I say that these animals are considered exotic for a reason.

Furthermore, they are illegal in some parts of the world. They also require a lot of care and attention, need daily exercise, and LOVE to chew. As I said before, there is no way to train your prairie dog to differentiate between a block of wood and a kitchen table. Everything in your house can and WILL be destroyed if you bring one of these animals into your home.
More like Prairie Rat's there rodent's not dogs and they tare up you land by digging howls, which if you have horses is a bad thing.
it is possible to keep a prarie dog as a pet in some parts of the country. They were responsible for the monkey pox outbreak a few years back though, and since then I haven't seen any for sale in my area. It will depend on where you live whether prarie dogs are allowed as pets or not. It might also be worth noting that wild prarie dogs often harbor plague-carrying fleas, so you should be very careful about the health and source of any pet prairie dog which you do obtain. -Neb

As you now know Prairie Dogs are not dogs but rodents and not a good pet. Please do not consider adopting one, you check out other dogs or rabbits or ferrets or something that has been domesticated. Good luck finding your perfect pet.
